| At
the End of the Day
When we arrived, MV and I, awaiting toilets on lorry
We sat and drank coffee in his ATV, the weather decidedly sorry
The lorry arrived, the day's work began, the toilets sat in the wood
We pulled out our lists, delegated our tasks and started to do what
we could
Tarpaulin was raised over hazelwood ridge, a shelter for our guests
Linda said in her mercurial way, it looked like a woodcutters rest
Water was hauled from stables afar, a barrel installed close by
'Where is the power? Is this OK? Can you look at this?' came the cry
'You're too far away, the leads won't reach, I've told you before',
said I
If your lead is too long the fuse will blow, your exhibit may even fry.
The generator installed and purring away, Jane's projector finally lit
But coughing was heard 'My asthma' was said so I moved it away, just
a bit.
'Can you help with this, can you help me with that?' oh so very many
Tents were put up, a village appeared, and Ian put up his 'semi'
A fire was needed for the end of the day, my chain saw was at the ready
I pulled and pulled, cursed and cursed, it would not start, and I didn't
call it 'Freddie'
The plug was cleaned and it soon fired up, looking round, we found some
fallen cherry
A pile of logs soon appeared and the 'arsonist' lit the match, why did
she look so merry?
At long last 'grub' was up, we had a feast in the marriage tent, thanks
to Geoff and Kim
Much wine consumed, stories told, and a shoot out between me and young
'Jim'
Around the fire several gathered, Jane prostrate with video, so the
cabaret began,
Different 'Acts' stood up and did their thing, several funny songs were
sung.
At the end of the day I was shattered
So I crashed out in my tent, not caring if anything mattered.
